Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North is a freemium multiplayer strategy game where players build up a medieval city, Cheap Little Empire Mojo train an army, and attack other players’ cities for riches and glory. Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North can be downloaded for free and gems can be purchased through in-app purchases (coins in app) to speed along building and upgrades.
Build, upgrade, research, train, attack, defend. These are all aspects that many iOS gamers are familiar with. Plenty of multiplayer freemium games utilize these core ideas, so it’s only natural. Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North is certainly no exception, Buy Little Empire Mojo but the way it handles these concepts makes it feel unique. And it’s much more involving than I’d expected.
When Kabam released Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, it managed to stand apart from its peers thanks to a very helpful UI and a bit more leniency in the time management department. In other words, it was pretty darned cool. Arcane Empires reworks the formula for steampunk enthusiasts, but while the new coat of paint is certainly interesting (and awesome looking) it’s pretty much just that: a new coat of paint.
Players begin building their empire with a single city. A quick tutorial goes over the basics of research, construction, Little Empire Mojo etc, and then they’re on their own. Well, on their own with a week-long protection period in which other players can’t attack. It gives the newbies a better chance to build defenses and the like so they aren’t immediately tossed to the wolves wearing nothing but a grimace and a vest made of raw meat. But until that time they’re free to construct and upgrade buildings, squirrel away resources, and train an army of dapper not-quite future soldiers.
